Our Story

Disinfrate began in 2009 when founder William Ashworth left his position at a large commercial landscaping firm to focus on residential gardens. He believed that homeowners deserved the same level of expertise and care that corporate clients received, but with a more personal touch.

What started as a one-person operation working from a garage in Headingley has grown into a team of twelve dedicated professionals. Throughout this growth, we have maintained our founding principle: every garden, regardless of size, receives our full attention and expertise.

Today, we serve properties across Leeds and the surrounding areas, from compact terraced house gardens in the city centre to expansive grounds in the Yorkshire countryside.

What Guides Our Work

Quality Over Quantity

We deliberately limit the number of clients we take on to ensure every garden receives the time and attention it deserves. Rushing through jobs is simply not something we do.

Honest Communication

We provide straightforward advice, even when it means recommending less work rather than more. Building trust through honesty has been central to our reputation.

Environmental Responsibility

We use peat-free composts, organic pest control where possible, and dispose of green waste responsibly. Protecting the broader environment is part of caring for individual gardens.

Local Knowledge Matters

Leeds presents particular challenges for gardeners. The heavy clay soils in many areas require specific drainage solutions and plant choices. The local climate, influenced by both the Pennines and the proximity to the coast, creates a unique growing environment.

Our years of experience working specifically in this region mean we understand these challenges intimately. We know which plants will thrive in your particular postcode and which will struggle. This knowledge saves our clients both money and disappointment.

Our Approach

Initial Consultation

Every project begins with a thorough site visit. We assess the existing conditions, discuss your aspirations, and consider practical factors like budget, timeline, and ongoing maintenance requirements. This conversation forms the foundation for all our recommendations.

Tailored Solutions

We do not believe in one-size-fits-all approaches. Whether you want a low-maintenance space that frees up your weekends or a plantsman's paradise requiring regular care, we design our services around your specific needs and preferences.

Clear Communication

You will always know what work we are doing, when we will be there, and what it will cost. We provide detailed written quotes before starting work and keep you informed throughout longer projects. No surprises, no hidden charges.

Long-term Partnership

Many of our clients have been with us for years. We see garden care as an ongoing relationship rather than a series of isolated transactions. This continuity allows us to understand each garden deeply and respond to its evolving needs.
